2020 - 60th Annual Western Slope Labor Day Shoot 9/5 thru 9/7
Scores: Can be found at www.3sscores.com.
3 September 2017: We are in the middle of the shoot, with doubles, singles and handicap on the agenda. The weather is staying hot and so are the shooters. Last night we had a great turn out for the club-sponsored "burgers and beer" celebration. Good shooting, good socializing -- this is fun! Please note: photographs in the galleries are thumbnails. 2 September 2017: The shoot is off to a great start in the hot western Colorado sun. Shooters are scoring well, the trap kids are doing an outstanding job keeping the traps loaded and logging accurate scores. Even the dogs enjoyed the day!
4 September 2017: We wrapped up the shoot today, bringing to a close the latest version of Delta Trap Club's annual Western Slope Labor Day Shoot. The weather stayed seasonably hot while the absence of wind helped shooters to high scores. Sunday night's Calcutta bidding was also hot and lots of fun. Now we bid goodbye to a great group of shooters. We hope to see you all back again next year. Please note: photographs in the galleries are thumbnails. Click on each photo for the complete image.
Well the 60th Annual Labor Day Shoot is in the books! The shoot turned out to be a huge success with shooters from Arizona, Colorado, Missouri, New Mexico and Utah. The weather was beautiful throughout the shoot, we received some needed moisture the last couple of days and now the sun is shining....can't ask for anything more!!! We had some tremendous scores - many 100s and 99s-and many exciting shoot offs. I will post the winners below!! We are extremely proud of our local shooters. Brian Church won the HOA for the 200 Championship Targets on Monday with an outstanding 96 & 97 (193), followed by our Board Member, Jennifer Cartmell (189), Gael Epp (189) and Dan Finochio (189). Board Member Kenny Foshaug tallied his 1st 25 and Tom Fox finished runner up in his first shoot off with Peggy Smuin. Saturday evening we hosted our free dinner and had some great competition in our Annie Oakley Shoots. The First Annual Corn Hole Championship goes to the team of Gene Wilson & Jennifer Cartmell!!! Sunday we had an excellent meal provided by Cedaredge FFA and corn donated by Ahlberg Farms! The drawing for 1000 shotgun shells (donated by John & Susan Kuenzler) was a success and won by Cliff Haycock!! The calcutta was fun and we welcome Roy Nelson as our auctioneer (a former trap club kid). Our concession trailer "Gettin' Our Smoke On" was from Helper, Utah, and they did a great job. Our trap help from the Cedaredge Sports Teams were very good. Thanks to Board member Peter for organizing them. A special thanks to all our sponsors and advertisers who also made this a success. Again..thanks to Board Member Kenny Foshaug for designing and printing our booklets.
Special thanks to our club volunteers:
Jay Jenkins and Ramon for hauling our Shooters all 3 days
Jim Pierce for cooking for our trap help all 3 days.
Ray Dix for cooking for our Burger, Brats & Beans dinner
Harvey & Jan Martinez, and Dan & Judy Finochio for manning our outside concessions and helping everywhere we might need them...we even put their guests to work shucking corn!!
Our team who helped set targets for doubles, reset for singles, etc., etc. and scored and refereed shoot offs.
Patrick and Kacey from Black Canyon Wing & Clay for filling in to help wherever needed
Phil & Cristen Nickolaus for setting up & helping @ the margarita and beer stand Sunday night
Scott Stage who helped in various jobs whenever needed.
Again....I really apologize if I've forgotten anyone. Just too numerous to mention.
Our entire Board worked very hard..in the office and outdoors... to make this a fun and successful event.
