The club was excited to see the beginning of a promising new youth shooting program. Delta county students participating in the recently formed Corky Wyman Scholastic Clay Target Program shooting team held their first practice/introduction to the sport on a “balmy” Sunday morning. The Shot Slingers listened attentively to instructions on how to improve their clay target shooting skills, then showed wide grins as they stepped up to break some birds. Check out the action in the photo gallery.

The SCTP is a Youth Development Program designed to teach safe handling of firearms while developing positive life skills through the shotgun clay target sports. Youth from elementary grades through college are eligible to participate in the safe, educational and enjoyable SCTP clay target sports of American Trap, American Skeet, Sporting Clays, Olympic Trap, and Olympic Skeet.

The Shot Slingers are hosted by Delta Trap Club with the generous support of Corky Wyman's family and friends, Dave Torkelson, Jan Quick and others. Additional donations are welcome. Donations can be made at the club or mailed to Delta Trap Club,  P.O. Box 1061, Delta, CO 81416.

When the team enters competition we will report on their progress, team members and sponsors. For further information on the program, contact the club by email or phone, or talk directly with their Coach - Peter Grimson at the club!
